O-I is the largest manufacturer of glass containers in the world and a leading producer of consumer product packaging. To help support, maintain and evolve Human Resources, Payroll and related systems for its U.S and Puerto Rico operations, O-I depends on the comprehensive technological expertise of DataComm.

O-I first called on DataComm for total 24/7 outsourcing support and maintenance of its HR/Payroll system. As the system has migrated from a mainframe to client server environment, DataComm consultants have provided expertise in COBOL, Sybase, PowerBuilder, the UNIX environment and GEAC's E-Series and SmartStream.

To assist with the consolidation of mainframe and client server reporting into a corporate reporting system, the DataComm team used Business Objects and Ascential DataStage to develop an HRMS datamart reporting system.

For hourly payroll time and attendance, O-I utilizes a web-based package called Workbrain, which has a Java-based front end and an Oracle back end. The DataComm staff developed custom reports in Workbrain and assisted in the time collection process, using RSI hand scanners in conjunction with Workbrain.

As O-I migrates its HRMS from GEAC to ADP's EV3 and Winflex systems, DataComm is lending GEAC and ADP technical expertise, including custom report development using ADP's Reportsmith and Crystal Decisions products.
